In our world a shadow fell
And darkness did abound.
And even in the daylight
No sunshine could be found.

In our world we lost a father,
A brother, uncle and a son.
No time for us to say goodbye
As we didn*t know his work was done.

In our world a smile left us,
A friend to one and all.
His helping hand would lend no more,
Gone to heed another call

In our world our family gathered
And tears fell as we embraced.
While hundreds paid their respects,
Closeness of family was the saving grace.

But in our world the rain still fell
Since the storm it would not pass.
As routines returned, the ache remained
Ships sailing without their masts.

In our world a tree was planted
At a place he loved so dear.
Somewhere for us to visit
Private moments we know he*ll hear.

In our world where hearts were broken,
Where sullen skies would not leave,
Appeared a rainbow with a message:
*I am still with you, so please do not grieve.*

In our world we reached for that rainbow,
And shed tears and laughter too.
For we knew he was still with us
In all the things we do.

In our world we will miss him
As our own clocks unwind,
With his rainbow on our shoulders
And his memory on our minds.
